KASIO: The Alt-R&B Visionary Blurring Genre Lines and Breaking Boundaries
In an era where genre lines are more blurred than ever, Atlanta-born singer, songwriter, and producer KASIO is carving out his own lane in the alternative R&B space. Armed with smooth melodies, emotionally charged storytelling, and a production style that defies convention, KASIO is redefining what it means to be an artist in 2025.
Music has been in KASIO’s DNA since childhood. Growing up in a household steeped in gospel, funk, jazz, vintage R&B, and soul, he was immersed in sound long before he ever stepped into a studio. His first stage? The church choir. His first instrument? A Casio keyboard, foreshadowing the sonic craftsmanship that would become his signature.
By middle school, he had added the saxophone to his repertoire, earning accolades in district-wide bands and refining his musical instincts. But it was in high school that everything changed—when friends introduced him to FL Studio. Beat-making became an obsession, and soon, music wasn’t just a passion; it was his purpose.
Though he initially pursued marine biology at LSU, the pull of music proved too strong. Skipping classes to produce tracks and network with artists, KASIO eventually transferred to Tennessee State University, where he earned a music scholarship and majored in commercial music, audio engineering, and music business. It wasn’t long before his production skills landed him a major placement with Fetty Wap—his first big break.
As his production credits stacked up, KASIO collaborated with heavy hitters like Snootie Wild, Boosie Badazz, Trap Beckham, Doe Boy, and Colonel Loud. But even as his beats became sought after, something was missing: his own voice. In 2020, he made the leap from producer to full-fledged artist with his debut "On My Own" series. Then came "Love Intentions Vol. 1 & 2" in 2022, proving his knack for blending R&B’s emotional depth with the raw energy of hip-hop.
Fast-forward to 2024, and his latest single, "Friend Request," is making waves, showcasing a more refined, evolved sound that pulls from an eclectic mix of influences. Ka$io credits artists like 6LACK, Bryson Tiller, Chris Brown, and Ty Dolla $ign for shaping his vocal stylings, while Afrobeat giants Burna Boy, WizKid, and Davido add global texture to his sound. His appreciation for jazz and funk—think Masego and Anderson .Paak—infuses his music with an undeniable groove, and even classical composers like Frank Ticheli and pop/country acts like Coldplay and Morgan Wallen make their mark on his sonic palette.

Ka$io reflects “…As an artist, my goal is to make people feel something with my music, whether it's joy, nostalgia, heartbreak, or inspiration.”
His creative process is fluid—sometimes lyrics come first, sometimes the beat dictates the mood—but one thing is certain: every track is meticulously crafted to hit just right. His storytelling often stems from personal experiences, reflections on relationships, and observations of life’s challenges.
He sees his music as a canvas, painting vivid stories that listeners can see and feel.His classical training exposed him to composers like Frank Ticheli and Percy Grainger, and his love for pop and country includes acts like Coldplay, Rascal Flatts, and Morgan Wallen. These diverse influences contribute to his genre-fluid approach to music.
Despite the inevitable struggles of breaking into the industry, KASIO has remained steadfast in his vision. He’s learned that perseverance, adaptability, and authenticity are key to longevity. Now, with his upcoming album Nice Guys Finish Last on the horizon, he’s ready to take things to the next level.
Chart-topping hits? Check. Grammy aspirations? Absolutely. Film soundtracks, TV placements, and even classical and jazz compositions? In the works.

Created new vegan/health brand and content, helped publish her cookbook “Planted”and supported Athleisurewear Launch

Introductory post to LaTocha's Vegan Lifestyle Social Content. Key Content Pillars Were Wellness, Recipes, Fitness and Inspiration, all done with a tone of authenticity and approachability.

Vegan recipes, cooking along with LaTocha, which also included singing and life stories, was a regular feature. Her smiles and laughter made the videos popular with followers.

LaTocha can "sang" she did a small verse in this video that her Xscape fans loved.

Expanding and promoting LaTocha's Made Girl Line of Athleisure clothing was part of the work we did together. LaTocha included personal stories about how she felt when she was heavier and what inspired her to become active. She made changing lifestyles approachable for her followers.

Wearing a mask was a priority during Covid (and they were hard to come by). In this post LaTocha saluted healthcare workers and asked followers to follow recommendations.

Doug E Fresh developed a social media campaign featuring black entertainers to encourage members of the Community to wash their hands for a full 20 seconds to prevent the spread of Covid. The community was often less addressed than general market and more receptive to black singers and actors for direction.
I created LaTocha's YouTube channel to house interviews and long-form recipe video content.

I took this image that we later used for the back cover of LaTocha's Planted Lifestyle, her Vegan Cookbook.

LaTocha's Planted Lifestyle included recipes, life stories, current and older family photos, and photos from Xscape. The reflections were personal and included revealing accounts of how LaTocha felt to be called the "Big Girl" in the group; she wanted to be known by only her name LaTocha and that was a primary motivation. I helped write, edit and publish this volume.

Book signing was an exciting event for pre-order copies.
